I am thinking about booking a trip on the Conejos in early September and am wondering if there is dry fly fishing activity at that time and is this a good time to be ther efor water levels and fishong in general?

This sounds like a challenging day on the Conejos River! It’s interesting how even with a good hatch, fish can still be elusive. I’ve had similar experiences where conditions seem perfect, but the fish just aren’t cooperating. Did you try changing your approach or flies throughout the day? Clear and low water can definitely make things tricky, but it also makes for some beautiful fishing. Maybe the fish were just extra wary that day. Have you been back since, and did you have better luck?
